Siri, Spotlight, and Shortcuts on iPhone

Ask Siri about your events, find events from Spotlight, and use Luma in the Shortcuts app

The Luma iOS app connects your events to Siri, Spotlight, and the Shortcuts app. You can ask Siri what you’re going to this weekend, check whether a registration went through, open an event by name, and find events from the iPhone search screen without opening Luma first.

Requirements

An iPhone running iOS 27 or later with the latest version of the Luma iOS app. For the best results with spoken questions, turn on Apple Intelligence in the Settings app.
You need to be signed in to Luma. Siri and Spotlight only see events through your account, and signing out removes them from your phone.
The Create Event shortcut also works on earlier versions of iOS. Everything else on this page needs iOS 27.

What You Can Ask Siri

Your Schedule

Siri lists the events you’re confirmed for: events where your registration is approved and events you’re hosting. Invitations you haven’t answered, registrations awaiting host approval, and waitlist spots aren’t confirmed plans, so they’re left out. If you don’t say when, Siri uses today. You can ask about today, tomorrow, this week, this weekend, or next week, using your phone’s time zone. Siri reads out up to five events; the full list is available in the Shortcuts app.

Your Registration

“Check my event registration in Luma”

Siri asks which event you mean, or you can name it in the same breath. The answer preserves your exact status: confirmed, invited but not registered, awaiting host approval, waitlisted, not going, or not registered. If you’re a host, Siri says so and then reports your guest registration separately. Siri always checks with Luma before answering, so a registration you changed on another device is reflected right away. If the event was canceled or you no longer have access to it, Siri tells you it’s no longer available.

Opening and Searching

“Open [event name] in Luma”
“Search Luma for [term]”

Opening takes you straight to the event page. Searching opens the Your Events search screen in the app with your term filled in.

The Event on Your Screen

While an event page is open in Luma, you can ask Siri about it directly:

“When does this event start?”
“Where is this event?”
“Which calendar is this event on?”

Siri answers about whichever event is on screen, including events outside your schedule that you found on Discover.

Finding Events in Spotlight

Swipe down on your Home Screen and type an event name. Luma events appear in the results with their date and location, and tapping one opens it in the app. Because Spotlight also indexes the calendar name and venue, searching for a community or a place can surface its events too.

Luma keeps Spotlight up to date with:

Your upcoming events, plus past events that started within the last 90 days
Events you opened or scrolled past in the last seven days
Upcoming events in the city shown at the top of Discover, and events from calendars you subscribe to

The index refreshes when you open Luma and periodically in the background if Background App Refresh is on. Very active accounts are capped at a few hundred events per group, so an event far in the future may not be indexed even though you can still search for it inside the app.

An event appearing in Spotlight doesn’t mean you’re registered for it. Browsed, city, and calendar events are indexed so you can find them; they never count as confirmed plans when you ask Siri for your schedule.

Using Luma in the Shortcuts App

Open the Shortcuts app, start a new shortcut, and search for Luma to find these actions:

Get My Schedule — Returns your confirmed events for a period (Today, Tomorrow, This Week, This Weekend, Next Week) or between a Start Date and End Date that you choose. The end date is exclusive, so a range from Monday to Friday covers Monday through Thursday.
Check My Event Registration — Pick an event and get your registration status as text.
Find Events — Filter your events by Start Date, Event Name, Your Registration (Going, Invited, Pending Approval, Waitlisted, Not Going), and whether you’re Hosting. Sort by start date and limit the number of results.
Open Event and Search Events — Jump into the app.
Create Event — Opens Luma on the Create tab.

Each event that comes back carries its name, start and end times, location, calendar, hosts, the join link for online events, your registration status, whether you’re hosting, and whether it’s in your schedule. You can pass these into other actions, for example to read your day’s events aloud in a morning automation or to add a text list of the events you’re hosting this week to a note.

Privacy

Siri sees only what you see. If a host hides an event’s exact address, Siri and Spotlight get the same neighborhood-level location you see in the app. Host access notes such as door codes or entry instructions are never shared with Siri or Spotlight.
Everything is read-only. Siri can’t register you for an event, cancel a registration, buy a ticket, or edit an event. The Create Event shortcut only opens the app.
Guest lists stay in the app. Siri and Shortcuts don’t receive an event’s guest list.
Clearing history. Clearing Recently Viewed in the app’s search screen also removes browsed-only events from Siri and Spotlight. Signing out removes all of your events from the phone’s index.
Sharing links. Siri can’t share a Luma event link. Use the Share button on the event page instead.

Troubleshooting

Siri can’t find an event by name

Open Luma to refresh the index, then try again with the exact event name. If the event shows up in Spotlight but Siri still doesn’t find it, Siri likely misheard the name. Events that aren’t in your schedule, your recent browsing, your Discover city, or a calendar you subscribe to aren’t indexed, so open them in the app once and they’ll be available for the next seven days.

My schedule is empty but I have events coming up

Only confirmed events count. Check Your Events in the app. If the event is marked invited, you haven’t registered yet, so register from the invitation. If it’s pending approval or waitlisted, Siri won’t list it until the host approves you.

Siri says to sign in to Luma

Open the app and sign in. Siri can’t look up your schedule or registration without an account.

Siri says there are too many events to check at once

Ask about a shorter date range, or use exact start and end dates in the Shortcuts app.

The Luma actions don’t appear in Shortcuts

Update your iPhone to iOS 27 and install the latest version of Luma. On earlier versions of iOS, only the Create Event shortcut is available.
