Event Tags for Calendar Filtering
Event tags let visitors filter your calendar page by category. When you add tags like "5K Run", "Rooftop Party", or "Beginner Friendly" to your events, visitors can click on those tags to see only the events that match.
Assigning Tags to Events
When adding events to your calendar
When you add an existing Luma event or external event to your calendar using the Add Event button, you'll see an option to select tags before submitting. Click Add Tag to choose from your existing tags or create a new one.
On existing events
- Go to your Calendar and click the Events tab
- Find the event you want to tag
- Click the Add Tag button on the event card
- Select the tags you want to apply, or type a new tag name to create one
You can assign multiple tags to a single event. Tags you assign will be visible to visitors on your public calendar page.
Event Submissions
Once you've created tags on your calendar, people who submit events to your calendar can choose from your existing tags when submitting. This helps keep events organized from the start.
How Visitors Use Tags
When visitors view your calendar page, they'll see the tags displayed as filter buttons above your event list. Clicking a tag filters the calendar to show only events with that tag. This helps visitors quickly find the type of event they're looking for.
Tags only appear in the filter if they have at least one upcoming event assigned to them.
Managing Tags
You can view and manage all your tags in one place:
- Go to Calendar > Settings > Tags
- Here you'll see all your event tags and how many events use each one
- Click a tag to edit its name or color
- To delete a tag, click the delete option
You can also create new tags from this page by clicking Create Tag.
Note: Deleting a tag removes it from all events that had it assigned.
Event Tags vs. Member Tags
Your calendar has two types of tags:
- Event Tags: Visible to visitors, used for filtering events on your calendar page
- Member Tags: Only visible to admins, used for organizing your audience (see Managing Calendar Contacts)
