Notification Types

What notifications Luma sends, who receives them, and how to manage your preferences

Luma sends notifications for events you attend, events you host, and calendars you manage. You can control which notifications you receive and how you receive them.

Managing Your Preferences

On the web, go to luma.com/settings/preferences to manage your notification settings. For each notification type, you can choose which channels to receive it on — Email, SMS/WhatsApp, and/or Push Notifications. You can also turn off a notification type entirely.

On the mobile app, open your Settings and tap Notifications.

Every email from Luma includes an Unsubscribe link at the bottom for quick opt-out.

Events You Attend

These settings cover notifications about events you're attending. Some of the same settings are also used when you're a host, so reminders, blasts, and event updates for your own events can also appear here.

Event Invites — You receive an invite to an event. Available on Email, SMS, and Push.

Event Reminders — Reminders before an event you're attending. Available on Email, SMS, and Push.

Event Blasts — Messages or posts sent by an event host to attendees. Available on Email, SMS, and Push.

Event Updates — Changes to event details like the event name, start time, duration, or location. Available on Email and Push. Push notifications are used for start time and location changes. If you turn off email updates, your calendar invite may become outdated.

Feedback Requests — Post-event survey requests from the host. Available on Email only.

Events You Host

These notifications are sent to all hosts with Manager access on an event — not just the event creator. If you want multiple people to receive these notifications, add them as Managers on the event.

Guest Registrations — A guest registered for your event, joined the waitlist, or accepted an invite. Available on Email and Push.

Feedback Responses — A guest submitted feedback for your event. Available on Email only.

Calendars You Manage

These notifications are sent to calendar admins.

New Members — Someone subscribed to your calendar, joined a membership tier, or applied to one. Available on Email and Push.

Event Submissions — Someone submitted an event to your calendar for review. Available on Email only.

Luma Updates

Product Updates — Occasional updates from Luma about new features and improvements. Available on Email only.

Notes

  • SMS notifications use WhatsApp in some countries based on your region.
  • Push notifications require the Luma mobile app.
  • As a host, you can control what communications go out to your guests (like Event Blasts), but you cannot override a guest's notification preferences.
