Creating a Calendar
Every Luma account comes with a Personal Calendar. Create a team calendar when you want to run events with other admins, brand them under your community or company, and share them on one calendar page.
How to Create a Calendar
Calendars are created on the web at luma.com. The iOS and Android apps don’t support creating calendars.
- Go to your Calendars Home and click Create next to My Calendars. You can also go straight to luma.com/create-calendar.
- Enter a Calendar Name. This is the only required field.
- Optionally fill in the rest:
- Short description shown on your calendar page
- Cover image: click Change Cover to upload one or pick an image from Luma’s gallery or Unsplash
- Avatar: click the square image to upload your logo. Luma picks a random avatar if you skip this.
- Tint Color for your calendar page. Uploading an avatar picks a matching color automatically.
- Public URL, the link people use to find your calendar (e.g.
luma.com/your-community) - Location: choose City for a local community, or Global
- Click Create Calendar.
You’ll land on your new calendar’s Events tab. Everything you entered can be changed later in Settings > Display.
Creating a calendar while creating an event: On the create event page, open the calendar selector and choose Create Calendar. This quick version asks for a name, description, avatar, and tint color, then puts the event on the new calendar. You can fill in the rest later from the calendar’s settings.
Personal vs. Team Calendars
Your Personal Calendar is created when you sign up, is where your events go by default, and only you can manage it. Calendars you create are team calendars: you can add other admins, and they get access to every event the calendar manages. See Managing Events with Calendars for the full comparison.
After You Create Your Calendar
- Add your team: Add admins in your calendar’s Settings > Admins. All admins have equal permissions. See Understanding Calendar Permissions.
- Create events: When you create an event, choose your new calendar in the calendar selector. Existing events can be moved over too: see Managing Events with Calendars.
- Upgrade to Luma Plus: Plus applies to one calendar, not your whole account, so subscribe on the calendar you’ll host on. See Luma Plus.
- Enterprise: Calendars created from an organization’s Calendars tab belong to that organization, and organization admins can manage them. See Organizations.
