Submitting Events to Calendars

How to submit your event to another calendar and what happens next

Submitting an event to another calendar is a way to get it featured there without moving it off your own calendar. If the submission is accepted, the event can appear on both calendars at the same time.

Every event still has one primary calendar. Submitting an event to another calendar does not change that. If you want to move the event's main home, see Managing Events with Calendars.

Ways to Submit an Event

From a calendar page, you may be able to:

  1. Submit an existing Luma event by pasting its Luma event URL
  2. Create a new event from that calendar page and submit it as part of event creation
  3. Submit an external event from another website, if that calendar allows external submissions

If you're an admin of the calendar, you'll see Add Event instead of Submit Event. Admin-added events appear on the calendar right away.

Before You Submit

Calendars can handle submissions in different ways:

  • Some calendars accept submissions from anyone
  • Some only let their admins add events
  • Some require manage access before they can accept a Luma event

When a calendar requires manage access:

  • You must agree to grant it before submitting
  • If the event is accepted, admins of that calendar get full manage access to the event
  • External events can't be submitted to calendars that require manage access

To learn more about shared management, see Collaborating Calendars.

What Happens After You Submit

If you submit an event and you are not an admin of that calendar, the submission goes to the calendar's admins for review.

After that:

  • If they approve it, the event appears on their calendar
  • If they do not approve it, the event is not added to that calendar
  • If you're already an admin of that calendar, the event is added immediately instead of going through review

Some calendars also let you choose event tags during submission so the event is organized correctly from the start.

What Stays With the Primary Calendar

Even if an event appears on more than one calendar, the primary calendar still controls:

  • ownership of the event
  • Stripe and payments
  • email branding
  • Luma Plus benefits tied to that calendar

Submitting to another calendar adds visibility. It does not transfer ownership.

If a Submission Is Rejected or Removed

Whether an event can be submitted again depends on who removed it:

  • If the calendar removed the event, either side can submit or add it again later
  • If the event host removed the event from that calendar, only the host or another event manager can submit it again

FAQ

Can my event be on multiple calendars?

Yes. One event can appear on its primary calendar and on other calendars that accept it.

Does submitting my event move it to another calendar?

No. It adds the event to another calendar without changing the primary calendar.

Will the other calendar be able to edit my event?

Not by default. They only get manage access if that is part of the submission flow and the event is accepted.

Why can’t I submit some events?

Some calendars do not accept submissions, some require manage access, and some events cannot be submitted to other calendars at all. Private events, members-only events, and multi-session events cannot be submitted to another calendar.
