Sending Newsletters
Newsletters let you communicate directly with your calendar's people. You can share updates, promote upcoming events, and keep your community engaged.
Creating a Newsletter
- Go to your calendar's manage page
- Click the Newsletters tab
- Click New Draft
- Add a subject line and compose your message using the rich text editor
- Click Continue when ready to send
The editor auto-saves your draft every few seconds, so you won't lose your work.
Preview your newsletter before sending by clicking the Preview button. This shows you exactly how recipients will see your email.
Choosing Recipients
When you're ready to send, you can target your newsletter to different audiences:
Everyone sends to all calendar members who haven't unsubscribed. This is the default option.
By Tag lets you filter recipients by tags you've applied to members. Select one or more tags to narrow your audience.
By Membership Tier sends only to members of a specific membership tier. This is useful for member-only content or tier-specific announcements.
The send modal shows you exactly how many people will receive your newsletter based on your selection.
Sending Options
Send Now queues your newsletter for immediate delivery.
Schedule lets you pick a future date and time. You can reschedule or edit scheduled newsletters before they're sent.
Send Preview sends a test email to yourself so you can check how it looks in your inbox.
Newsletter Stats
After sending, you can track how your newsletter performed:
- Sent — Total emails delivered
- Opens — How many recipients opened the email
- Clicks — How many clicked a link in the email
- Unsubscribes — How many unsubscribed from this email
Click View Stats on any sent newsletter to see detailed recipient-level information.
Send Limits
Luma has weekly limits on how many emails you can send. Your limit depends on your plan and whether your calendar is verified. See Understanding Import and Event Invite Limits for details on send limits and how to increase them.
Managing Your Audience
People join your calendar when they:
- Register for one of your events
- Click Subscribe on your calendar page
- Are imported by a calendar admin
Anyone can unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link in any newsletter. You can view and manage everyone in the People tab of your calendar.
