Luma vs Splash

How Luma compares to Splash for branded corporate events and event marketing

If you want event pages anyone on your team can launch in minutes, with self-serve pricing and no annual contract, choose Luma. If you run a large field marketing program with strict brand templates, program-level reporting, and a marketing ops team to manage them, Splash is built for that, on an annual enterprise contract.

Pricing

Luma: Free events are free, with unlimited events and guests. For paid tickets, the Free plan charges a 5% platform fee plus Stripe processing (2.9% + 30¢). Luma Plus is $59/month billed annually (or $69 month to month) and drops the platform fee to 0%, so a $20 ticket costs $0.88 in card fees. Larger companies that need SSO, CRM sync, and a company-wide setup can talk to us about Luma Enterprise.

Splash: Splash doesn’t publish prices. Its plans (Pro and Enterprise) are sold through its sales team as an annual team license with a set number of user seats, and multi-year agreements are common. Buyer data from Vendr puts the median contract at around $27,000 per year, with deals ranging from roughly $6,700 to $63,000. Paid tickets carry a Splash service fee of 1.25% + $0.49 per ticket on paid plans (1.6% + $0.49 on free accounts), plus Stripe processing.

Cash Flow: With Luma, funds are paid out to your Stripe account as guests purchase tickets, following Stripe’s standard rolling payout schedule (typically 2 days in the US) — or within minutes with Stripe’s Instant Payouts, for eligible accounts.

Pricing checked in September 2026. Splash’s list prices aren’t public — see Splash’s pricing page or talk to their sales team for a quote.

How They Compare

Splash is an event marketing platform for corporate teams. It’s designed for field marketing, customer dinners, roadshows, and webinars, where every event needs to look on-brand and every registration needs to land in the marketing automation system. Its strengths are branded themes backed by a brand library, deep Marketo and Salesforce integrations (including two-way sync with Marketo programs and Salesforce campaigns), and program-level reporting across many events. Splash was acquired by Cvent in 2024 and is now part of Cvent’s event suite.

Luma is built so anyone on your team can launch an event page in under two minutes — no templates to maintain. Hosts pick from dozens of event themes, add registration questions, and share the link. Guests register with a name and email, get QR check-in with Apple and Google Wallet passes, and a calendar they can subscribe to for your future events.

For companies running many events across teams, Luma Enterprise adds an organization that groups your calendars under one roof, with SSO, HubSpot and Salesforce sync, cross-calendar insights, and a custom sending domain so event emails come from your own address.

The biggest difference is how you buy and how fast you can launch an event. Splash is a sales-led annual contract. Luma is self-serve: start free, upgrade to Plus for 0% fees and automations, and move to Enterprise when IT and marketing ops need it.

Where Luma Shines

  1. No annual contract to get started: Free events are free, and Luma Plus is $59/month billed annually, compared with a median Splash contract of around $27,000 per year.
  2. Fast for everyone on the team: Event pages go live in minutes, so a sales rep or community manager can launch an event without waiting on marketing ops.
  3. Curate a paid guest list: Require approval works with paid tickets — guests’ cards are held when they apply and only charged if you approve them. Paid waitlists work the same way, so you can fill sold-out spots without chasing payments.
  4. Community, not just campaigns: Calendars with subscribers, newsletters, and event blasts keep your audience in touch between events.
  5. Automations on self-serve plans: The Luma API, webhooks, and Zapier (all included with Luma Plus) connect Luma to the rest of your stack, and Enterprise adds SSO, HubSpot, Salesforce, organizations, and enterprise security.

Why You Might Choose Splash

  • Deep brand-template control – A central brand library and locked-down branded themes keep hundreds of events on-brand, even when many people are creating them.
  • Established marketing ops setup – If your team has years of Splash templates, Marketo programs, and Salesforce campaigns built around it, staying put avoids a migration. Luma Enterprise supports Salesforce, HubSpot, and Marketo too.
  • Event program analytics – Program-level dashboards and ROI reporting across a whole event portfolio, built for marketing teams that report pipeline from events.
  • Part of the Cvent suite – If your company already runs large conferences on Cvent, Splash may fit alongside it.

Migrating from Splash to Luma

  1. Export your guest lists from Splash (the Export button on each event’s Guests tab gives you a CSV).
  2. Create a Luma calendar for your team and import your contacts by uploading the CSV, so everyone can hear about future events.
  3. Recreate your upcoming events on Luma — pick a theme, add your registration questions, and invite guests.
  4. Connect your Stripe account if you sell tickets.
  5. Connect your CRM: set up HubSpot or Salesforce on Enterprise, or use Zapier and webhooks on Luma Plus.
  6. For a company-wide move, contact enterprise@luma.com and we’ll help you set up your organization.
